The Weekender: January 10-12

The Weekender

the-weekender

We hope everyone had a wonderful first week of 2014! We’ve endured some crazy weather this past week or so, and this weekend the weather warms up. (In fact it will be 51 degrees on Monday – what?!) It’s strange, but we’ll take the chance to get out of hibernation and hit the town! Here are some fun things going on this weekend – enjoy!

On Ice. The U.S. Figure Skating Championships are being held this weekend at the TD Garden! We used to love watching figure skaters on TV – so much grace, athleticism, and drama. How fun it would be to see it all go down in person! Tickets start at about $30. For more information and to buy tickets, check out the website.

A Different Perspective. We loved the MFA exhibit “She Who Tells a Story,” and this is the last weekend to see it! Closing on January 12, the collection of contemporary photographs from Iran and the Arab world is just one of the reasons to visit the amazing MFA.

Americana on Stage. Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of “the King of Rock and Roll” is in town for one night! The performance at Natick’s The Verve is $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Forget Your Pants! Started in 2002 in New York, the No Pants Subway Ride takes place in over 50 cities worldwide and will hit the MBTA on Sunday! The idea is to dress warmly, but… “forget” your pants! The point is not to offend, but to make people laugh. (Part of the plan is to act like you don’t know who all these other pants-less people are.) This video explains… hilarious!

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
