The Weekender: February 28-March 2

The Weekender

the-weekender

Happy Friday! As we head into March this weekend, spring doesn’t feel too far off. Here are our top picks for the weekend ahead.

Open Mic. If you’ve been looking for a chance to be inspired, this evening’s open mic dinner will likely do the trick. Dot 2 Dot Cafe and the Boston School of Music Arts are teaming up for an evening of food and talent.

Local Connection. This Saturday, the Rock On Foundation is hosting an event, The Nightcap, to connect world renowned visionaries from the sports, technology, media and entertainment industries to the Boston creative community. Guests can participate in a Connect Four tournament to break the ice, sit back and listen to music and comedy performances, as well as browse the “souvenir pop-up shop” featuring work by local artists.

Back to my Roots. Between the bitter cold this week and getting back into routine (oh, vacation), I’ve been craving cold pressed anything. I’ve been frequenting Fort Point’s Nourish Your Soul – the tropical smoothie is amazing. This weekend, I’m hoping to check out Cocobeet, which recently opened by City Hall.

Winter Festival. If it’s going to be cold, might as well find ways to enjoy it, right? Union Square will be transformed into a winter festival on Saturday as ice sculptures, ice bowling, and other activities take center stage as part of the Fire & Ice Festival. There will be hot drinks and special cocktails to keep you warm.

Oscar and Friends. To round out the weekend, catch the 86th Annual Academy Awards. There are lots of ways to enjoy the show, whether it’s on the Canary Square red carpet or with an Oscars-inspired menu at Trident Booksellers & Cafe.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at info@thebostondaybook.com. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
